I was very creative as a child. I really enjoyed drawing and collage. After 25 + years of focusing on study, work, being a wife and mother, my creativity has now resurfaced (with a vengeance).
The last 5 years has been a journey of discovery for me. My creative expression has progressed from card-making to altered art and mixed media. I voraciously explored the internet and learned scrap-booking techniques which I used in card-making. I knew that pure scrap-booking wasn't for me. I always gravitated towards mixed media type art. I then stumbled upon the one and only, Suzi Blu and discovered the world of Art Journalling.
Over the last year or so, I have had a burning desire to share my passion with others. I held a number of informal sessions with my pre-teen daughter and friends and saw how naturally children took to artistic expression and the effect Art Journalling had on them. They confirmed and exceeded my expectations. At this stage I had a fairly vague idea of how I was going to share my passion for art in a more formal way.

I did her Mermaid Warrior e-course which showed me how I could share art in a more structured way as a small side business and gave me a truly inspiring vision of what it would look like.
The process of conducting my Mermaid Spirit Workshops have inspired me and taught me so much. I absolutely love it!

Mermaid Spirit Art Workshops are designed primarily for girls 6-12 years old.
In our society, girls are constantly bombarded with messages that undermine their confidence. This happens at a crucial time when they are forming their self- identity and are seeking validation from society.
Through the workshops, I aim to harness the girls' natural creativity and provide them with a means of self-expression as well as a safe refuge.
Mermaids are free to create in a safe and supportive environment using mixed media techniques: drawing, painting, collage, stamping and more.
The main intention is to uplift the girls through art play, to nurture their spirit and self-esteem and create a sense of empowerment.
